TRACY HOAGLAND

Library Bookshelves

ABOUT ME

The daughter of a 'coastie' I've always had a thing for water and being an outsider. As the new kid in school, I found books to me my only constant companions.

With each new coastal town my family moved to while my dad served in the Coast Guard, the library was always my first stop. From Louis L'Amour to Anne McCaffery, stories were the only place I was at home.

I write books with complicated relationships that explore themes of identity, belonging, and female empowerment (or rage, depending on the character).

I currently live in Portland, OR., close to the ocean with a healthy dose of rain always on the horizon.

When I'm not writing I can be found rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, making book-themed candles, or hanging out with my husband and our perfect Rhodesian Ridgeback, Zoe. I also have a cat, but she's quite private and would be appalled that I mentioned her.

The mystery of life isn't a problem to solve, but a reality to experience.
